How long does delivery take?

We are normally capable of delivering within 48 hours of purchase. Upon receiving your order, we will contact you to arrange a suitable time, sometimes even for the same day! You're also welcome to contact us prior to purchase to check our availability.

Can I view the furniture prior to ordering?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can. All items listed on our website are located in our storage Warehouse on Gouger Street, Adelaide CBD. You can book an appointment online to arrange a viewing time. Please be aware that our furniture has the potential to sell online prior to your appointment time, as we do not hold without payment. If an item shows as "out of stock" online then it has been sold.

Can you hold for me?

We don't hold furniture without payment as it is not fair to others who are willing to pay/ collect immediately. In addition, we have limited storage space available.

Do you offer payment plans?

Accepted Answer

We do have AFTERPAY available at the checkout when completing your order. No private payment plans are available.

What does "Good Condition" mean?

We do our best to accurately describe the condition of each item, however this is always subjective and our opinions may differ to yours so we always encourage viewing the item in person prior to purchasing if you can. We deal with many different pieces on a daily basis and therefore we may fail to notice imperfections on occasion. Your own due diligence on secondhand furniture is always best as all sales are final.

Are the prices on your secondhand furniture negotiable?

Many factors are taken into consideration when pricing our items such as condition, rarity and style and are priced accordingly, therefore our prices are firm. We also do not offer discounts for cash, payment method is irrelevant.

What is your return policy?

Ruby Room Adelaide operates in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law. Whilst shopping on our site, you acknowledge that our products are not in new condition (unless stated otherwise) and may have defects or signs of wear. On receipt of delivery or pick up, we may assume that you have accepted the purchase. Once the item has been accepted,  refunds will not be entertained for change of mind.

We are happy to return any items should they not match the description and/or dimensions advertised. We do our best to accurately describe the condition of each item, however this is always subjective and our opinions may differ to yours so we always encourage viewing the item in person prior to purchasing. If any fault is identified after purchase that does not allow you to utilise the furniture as intended (for example - a dining set with a broken leg is unable to be used as a dining table) that was not obvious,  or made clear before purchase, we will do everything possible to rectify the fault. If the fault can not be rectified, a refund will be issued. This refund offer pertains to faults that were apparent at the time of purchase only. If your furniture becomes broken after pick up or delivery has been made, refunds will not be entertained.

We reiterate the importance of the following - The items sold through this business are secondhand and in some cases over 50-100 years old. Small, immaterial imperfections are to be expected. Every effort is made to ensure the customer is aware of the condition of each piece presented online. It is important to read the description and inspect IN PERSON if aesthetics are of concern to you as almost all secondhand pieces will have some.

Do you accept cash on delivery?

We generally don't accept COD unless you have viewed the item prior and we are confident you are happy with it. We do not provide delivery so you can view the item. COD arrangements are offerred at our discretion but generally are not an option we offer.

Question 9

When do you add fresh stock?

Accepted Answer

We upload fresh stock to our website at the end of each month, generally the Monday of the last week in the month. We are a small family owned and operated business so our stock is always limited and in high demand due to our quality, attention to detail and low prices. In addition, our warehouse may not be full if you are planning a viewing, this will depend on the time of the month that you visit.

Do you have a shop?

No, we don't have a commercial storefront. Our pieces are located in a storage warehouse on Gouger Street, Adelaide CBD and can be viewed by appointment only.

Where do you source your furniture?

Accepted Answer

Most of our furniture comes from display homes or private sellers. We are not a normal secondhand shop where furniture is brought in by the truck-load and a price tag is thrown on it. Each piece is checked over, repaired if needed, cleaned, measured and catalogued with love.

I have furniture to sell, will you buy it?

Accepted Answer

Although a lot of our pieces are ex-display, we also buy from the public and you are welcome to email photos of your items for sale to rubyroomadelaide@gmail.com (rubyroomadelaide@gmail.com)and we will contact you as soon as possible to advise if we can make an offer or may suggest consigment. Do you support a charity?

Yes, Ruby Room Adelaide is partnered with Catherine House and a portion of each sale is donated to their cause.

Catherine House provides crisis, longer term accommodation and support services to women experiencing homelessness in South Australia. As South Australia’s only homelessness and recovery service for women, their work deals with the immediate issues created by homelessness and assists women in planning a future that helps them sustain housing and build purposeful lives.

Catherine House offers person centred support and Trauma-Informed care, focusing on clients’ existing strengths and knowledge. They accommodate up to 60 women experiencing homelessness per night, and provide an outreach service to women living in the community.
